I have resided in Lewistown for over thirty years. My husband, children and I live on our fourth generation family ranch huddled in the Judith Mountains near Lewistown. I’m a rancher and a long-time employee at our local hospital.

Since the nearest hospital is over 100 miles from Lewistown, our local medical sources are the backbone of our community. I am the coordinator of the Foundation and Community Relations at our hospital and would like to share with you a little bit of what we have to offer at our rural, top-rated “5 star hospital”, and other healthcare services obtainable in our quaint idyllic town.

Lewistown’s Hospital

Nestled on top of the hill with a view of 5 majestic mountain ranges is our community hospital called Central Montana Medical Center or informally known as “CMMC.”    Built in 1977, our hospital is the economic, employment and social fabrics of the wide area we serve. Our Medical Center provides a community service to a population spread well over 17,000 square miles. CMMC is a 25-bed acute care hospital; intensive care and cardiac care units, an 85-bed skilled nursing center, 24-hour emergency room, ambulance, full-range rehabilitation services, obstetrics, home health and hospice care, in/out-patient surgery, state-of-the-art radiology services, and a community fitness center.

CMMC’s medical staff includes a full-expertise range of active physicians. The medical offices include: Family Practice & O.B.; General Family Practice; Emergency Medicine, Radiologist, Orthopedic Surgeon; General Surgeon; Internal Medicine; Internal Medice/Pediatrics and Podiatric Surgery & Medicine.
Fifty miles west of Lewistown, located in Stanford Montana is CMMC’s rural healthcare clinic, Basin Medical Center, staffed by a Nurse Practitioner.

Traveling specialty physicians visit our hospital monthly and bi-monthly to serve the needs of our patients, ranging from neurology, pathology, oncology to dermatology.

Our area has two nursing homes: Central Montana Skilled Nursing Center and Valle Vista Manor. 

Assisted Living

Shepherds Way Assisted Living, The Villa and New Horizons are available in our town for those requiring nursing care in a home-like setting. 

Mental Health

Child, adolescent and family psychiatry and counseling are provided through the Mental Health Center and numerous private practices with masters in social work are accessible.

Treatment Center

Lewistown is home to Nexus Treatment Center, housing first offense meth patients in a three-month stay treatment facility. This completely secured building provides jobs for many, medical and psychological help for the patients and economic support for Central Montana.

Lewistown offers several optometrists, dentists, an orthodontist, chiropractors and an audiologist to take care of you and your family head to toe!
