SNOWMOBILE IN CENTRAL MONTANA
Hello, my name is Darrell Tuss.
I would like to welcome you to Central Montana’s snowmobiling world.
Within 20 miles south of Lewistown, are the Snowy Mountains. On the north side, access is by Crystal Lake Road and through private property. On the south side, access is mainly through private property. Crystal Lake has a forest service cabin available for rent.
The established trails are cleared by volunteers.
A little farther west are the Little Belt Mountains. Access is through Utica or Showdown Ski Area, 75-100 miles either way depending on conditions. There is an excellent trail system in the Belts.
There are 367 miles of groomed trails and extensive boon docking there. Maps are available. Three local clubs provide the groomed trail system: Little Belt Club, Great Falls, and White Sulphur Club.
Three local shops available for service and info are: Central Montana Yamaha
and Arctic Cat, Lewistown Honda and Polaris, and O’Dell’s Small Engine Repair.
For information, go to www.snowtana.com or visit the Fish, Wildlife, and Parks website at www.fwp.mt.gov.
Out-of-state snowmobiles can purchase permits for $15 at Central Montana Yamaha, Rindal’s Country Corner, the Fish, Wildlife and Parks office, or online through their website.
