The Lewistown City Pool is a great place to escape the heat of a Central Montana summer.  The 50-meter pool offers three diving boards along with two waterslides; a kiddy pool is also available.  This will surely be enough to entertain any family.  And, after a long day of swimming, indulge your sweet tooth at the concession stand.  Throughout the summer the pool is home to swim team as well as a variety of other events.  Swimming and diving lessons are held weekday mornings.

The city pool opens each year during the first week of June and closes the last week of August.  The pool is open from 1:00 to 8:00 pm, Monday through Thursday, 1:00 to 9:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 1:00 to 7:00 pm on Sundays.  Daily rates or season passes are available  The pool can also be rented for private use.  The Lewistown City Pool is located at Frank Day Park, 1401 6th Avenue South.  For more information call 406-535-4503.

Tubing at Big Spring Creek

Tubing the Big Spring Creek is a fun activity for a summer afternoon.  The creek originates nine miles southeast of Lewistown, at the Montana State Fish Hatchery in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains.  Big Spring Creek is a constant 52 degrees and flows at a rate of 130 cubic feet per minute, providing the perfect setting for a cool and enjoyable float on a hot, sunny day.

Big Spring Creek flows northwesterly from the hatchery through Lewistown until it joins the Judith River.  Just before reaching town, approximately one mile south of Lewistown, is Brewery Flats, a popular place to finish your tubing trip.  There is parking access to accommodate vehicles waiting to pick up tubers and their tubes.

Tubing will be one of the many highlights of your summer in Central Montana.  Tubes can be bought at any of the tire stores in town.

Warm Springs

Warm Springs offers a relaxing environment for families to enjoy the summer together.  The 68 degree water makes the spring popular on warm days.  On a typical day you can find families picnicking, playing volleyball or horseshoes, and fishing in Warm Spring Creek.  You can relax in the shade of one of many willow shoots that surround the spring.  The spring is designed for people of all ages -  12-14 feet deep with a kiddie pool on the side and surrounded by a dock.

Warm Springs has been owned by the Vanek’s since 1940.  It is considered the world’s largest natural warm spring with 50,000 gallons of water rising up from the earth every minute of everyday.  Warm Springs is located 15 miles northwest of Lewistown.  To get there travel 9.5 miles north on US Highway 191, turn left at State Highway 81 for about 5 miles, turn right at Gigantic Warm Springs sign.  Enjoy this perfect summer activity for any family.
